Daewoo bus Lahore to Karachi accident on M5 Motorway 20 passengers killed

A DAEWOO bus coming from Lahore to Karachi caught fire after a collision with a tanker on Motorway M5 near Bahawalpur.

Lahore to Karachi:As of last reports at least 20 people died in the accident while 6 people were injured. Motorway M5 remained closed for several hours at the site of the accident.

According to the highway authorities a Daewoo sleeper bus collided with an oil tanker while speeding on the Multan Sukkur highway. According to the spokesperson of the Motorway Police the oil tanker and the bus caught fire as a result of the collision.

Names of the passengers of the bus coming from Lahore to Karachi have been revealed

As soon as the accident was reported officers of the Motorway Police immediately reached the spot. Local police and rescue 1122 teams were also present at the spot. The fire was so intense & terrifying that it was visible from a distance.

According to the spokesperson of the Motorway most of the passengers were pulled out alive from the burning vehicles and they were immediately shifted to nearby hospitals. It took several hours for rescue teams to put out the fire.


The police took the dead bodies and the injured to the nearest hospital.


According to the spokesman on the instructions of IG Khalid Mahmood  Motorway Police has set up an Emergency Crossing Center. During the emergency operation, DIG Shahid Jawad was present at the spot. Motorway police had safely pulled out 9 passengers from the burning bus the police took the dead bodies and the injured to the nearby hospital.

According to reports from Lahore bus that was involved in the accident was of 2009 model which was run by Daewoo company. The sleeper bus left Lahore for Karachi at 9 pm.

According to company sources, there were two drivers in the bus. All staff had to shift to Sukkur. There were a total of 24 passengers in the bus out of which two passengers were to get off at Hyderabad while 22 passengers were to go to Karachi.

According to the local administration at least 20 people have died in the accident
