Rain Havy Urban flooding alert issued for Karachi and Hyderabad
Floodin Karachi :Pakistan is currently under the brunt of the monsoon from both the north & south the country largest and most populous city Karachi has almost come to a standstill due to the incessant rains causing flooding in the city.
Having Rain Hyderabad: government has also declared a public holiday on Monday in view of heavy rains in Hyderabad and Karachi while the city only metro bus service Green Line will also remain suspended on Monday.
Flooding has become a common occurrence in the city during the monsoon for the past several years & this year has also happened several times.
Meteorological Department says that rains are likely to continue in Karachi on Monday while another spell of monsoon will engulf Karachi at the end of July.
In view of the recent rains NED University Karachi its affiliated colleges Thar Institute of Engineering Science and Technology & Sindh Agricultural University Tando Jam have postponed the examinations scheduled for Monday.
On Sunday Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah along with Sindh Chief Secretary Dr Muhammad Sohail Rajput Karachi Commissioner Muhammad Iqbal Memon and provincial ministers visited different areas of the city during the rain & supervised the drainage works.

Administrator Karachi Murtaza Wahab claimed on his Twitter account that up to 150 mm of rain has fallen in Saddar areas due to which problems are being faced, but at the same time he was seen visiting many streets of the city on his Twitter account.

While he said in his tweets that many roads are clear he also shared videos of many drains inviting people to see how fast the water is going from the roads to the drains.
After the rains in Karachi the roads and streets are filled with water many experts attribute the encroachment on the centuries old natural drains due to which the water does not immediately find its way to the sea.
In the last few years the government promises to clean the drains and end their encroachment every once in a while but in each rain the condition of the roads does not change much compared to the previous rain.
Many videos & photos of the streets of Karachi were posted on social media, in which people criticized the Pakistan People's Party PPP provincial government. It should be noted that administrator Karachi Murtaza Wahab is also related to PPP.
In the videos circulating on Twitter people posted videos of their own areas apparently denying the government claims of drainage & some people even took out the side of humor in this difficult time.
Shahid Ali posted a video of Tariq Road 1 of the busiest areas of Karachi on his Twitter account in which water can be seen accumulating on the road.
A user named Faisal Rehman posted a video of a Karachi police station in which armed policemen are submerged in waist deep water. He wrote that what is the purpose of doing a photo shoot of Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah Murtaza Wahab Information Minister Sharjeel Memon Local Government Minister Nasir Hussain Shah during the rains, this work should be done before the rains and not during the rains.
