Lulo Rose: The largest pink diamond found in 300 centuries
LULO : A 34gram pink diamond has-been found in a mine in the African country of Angola which is believed to be the largest diamond discovered in 300 years.
This 170carat stone named Lulo Rose came from a mine in the African country of Angola.
It is believed to be the largest Lulo pink diamond discovered in the last three centuries. It was preceded by a 185 carat Dari Noor diamond that was extracted from a large stone and is now among the Iranian royal jewels.
The Lulo Rose is graded as a 2A diamond which means it has little or no contamination or blemishes.
Angola Minister of Mineral Resources Diamantino Azevedo said The magnificent pink diamond that has-been extracted from Lulo shows Angola as an important country in the world.
It is the fifth largest diamond from the Lulo mine. It was a joint venture between the Australian company Lokapa Diamond Company & the Government of Ingula.
Similar diamonds have sold for millions of dollars in the past. One of them was a punk star that sold for 71 million at an auction in Hong Kong in 2017.
A gem expert says It is impossible to estimate the price of the Lulo Rose at this time.
Pink diamond is very rare but its structure which makes it rare is also a challenge as it is not an easy task to shape it.
Hardy says the stone is unlikely to be brought to public because retailers have-customers waiting for this unusual diamond discovery.
