Karachi: Post Mortem A local court in Karachi has ordered an autopsy on well known anchor & National Assembly member Mr Amir Liaquat Hussain.


According to details Judicial Magistrate Eastern Minister Hussain Memon while hearing the petition for conducting autopsy of former MNA Amir Liaquat had accepted it Post mortem. The court later reserved its decision this morning after hearing arguments from the parties.




The court accepted the petition filed by MNA Mr Amir Liaqat for postmortem and ordered his post mortem. Public Prosecutor Sajjad Ali Dashti said the heirs did not want an autopsy. Heirs say an autopsy will hurt his father soul.

On the other hand, a police report regarding the death of Amir Liaqat was also presented in the court in which it was said that according to the police surgeon, the cause of death could not be ascertained unless an internal examination of the body was done. The court also issued notices to Amir Liaqat's family and police and also sought reply from SHO brigade on June 18.  Petitioner Abdul Ahad's lawyer Arsalan Raja had taken the position that Amir Liaquat Hussain died suddenly and mysteriously. He was a well known TV host and politician.  Barrister Arsalan Raja said that the sudden death of Amir Liaquat has raised doubts among his fans. It is suspected that he was killed on the issue of property so a special board should be formed for his autopsy.  It may be recalled that the funeral prayer of Amir Liaquat Hussain was delayed due to the insistence of the police to conduct an autopsy and the position of the police officials was that an autopsy was necessary as the cause of death could not be ascertained.  The family of Dr Amir Liaqat had approached the court on the matter and the body was handed over to the next of kin after being examined by a police surgeon along with a judicial magistrate.

Suspicions on Amir Liaqat death: Court orders exhumation and postmortem


A local court in Karachi has ordered an autopsy on Pakistan leading TV personality & National Assembly member Dr Amir Liaquat Hussain.


The request for exhumation and postmortem of Amir Liaquat said that there was a suspicion among the citizens of Karachi that no one had killed him due to a party dispute, therefore it was necessary to determine the cause of death. During the hearing, public prosecutor Sajjad Ali Dashti told the court that the heirs did not want an autopsy. The heirs also said that we have no suspicion on anyone. The police surgeon told the court that the cause of death could not be ascertained unless an internal examination of the body was done. The petitioner is an ordinary citizen Has requested for an autopsy and said that suspicions have been raised over the death of Amir Liaquat.


Following the court order a medical board will be formed as per the rules and the date of exhumation will be fixed. The exhumation is carried out under the supervision of a magistrate followed by an autopsy.


Why Amir Liaquat autopsy was not done before burial?



It is to be noted that after the death of Amir Liaquat and even before his burial, there was tension at the postmortem.


Following the police insistence on an autopsy Amir Liaquat family on Friday approached the Judicial Magistrate Eastern Court, where after a brief hearing the court ordered the police surgeon to examine the body and submit a report. Only then will a decision be made on whether or not to perform an autopsy.

It may be recalled that the funeral prayer of Amir Liaquat Hussain was delayed due to the insistence of the police to conduct an autopsy and the position of the police officials was that an autopsy was necessary as the cause of death could not be ascertained.
