Financial Action Test Force : FATF PTI leader Shahbaz Gul while congratulating the Pakistani nation gave good news and claimed that Pakistan has-been removed from the FATF gray list.
Shahbaz Gul tweeted that with the special attention of former PM Imran Khan his team did what no one had done before. I said a few days ago that now Aristotle will try to take credit for this.
He wrote that it was these thieves who put us on the gray list.
The Financial Action Task Force FATF has announced that Pakistan will remain on the gray list. Has followed the recommendations or not.
A statement issued by the FATF said that Pakistan has made reforms in the areas of money laundering & terror financing and will visit Pakistan to assess whether the issues raised by Pakistan Whether the measures will be effective in the future.
It may be recalled that Pakistan was included in the FATF gray list in 2018 and in the review meeting held in March 2022 while keeping Pakistan on the gray list, it was stated that Pakistan has made significant progress in fulfilling its recommendations. However further progress is needed on a few points.
The decision was made at a plenary meeting of the FATF which was held in Berlin from June 13 to June 17 today & was attended by representatives of 206 member countries. In addition the International Monetary Fund IMF the World Bank, the United Nations and the Egmont Group of Financial Units also attended the meeting as observers.
The plenary meeting of the FATF which began on June 13 discussed Pakistan's performance in 2018 and 2021 and reviewed the steps that Pakistan has taken based on the FATF recommendations.
Pakistan was represented at the meeting by Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Hina Rabbani Khar who is currently in Berlin Germany. During his visit he met with current and former FATF representatives and leaders.
Pakistan has so far implemented all 27 recommendations of the FATF in 2018 while in 20216 of the seven points made by the Asia Pacific Group APG a sub branch of the FATF financial Action Task Force have been implemented. Has been completed ahead of time.
It should be noted that Pakistan had also amended the law against money laundering in the year 2020 so that further action could be taken but according to the spokesperson of the federal government in the review of 2021 He was asked to provide further examples of progress in action and money laundering cases.
Government spokesmen are looking forward to a slightly better review this year than last.
