Alhan Omar resolution in United State US House of Representatives on human rights
violations in India proposed to be nominated as a country of special concern
Alhan Omar a female member of the United States US Congress has introduced a resolution in the House of Representatives on human rights & religious freedom violations in India & has called on Secretary of State Anthony Blanken to add India to list of countries in which The US United States is concerned about human rights abuses.
The resolution was jointly introduced by lawmakers Alhan Omar Rashida Talib & Juan Vargas on Tuesday according to the United State US Congress website. The resolution is based on 2022 annual report of the USA United States Commission on International Religious Freedom USCIRF which called on United State of America US government to include India in its list of countries. Alhan Omar : The text of the resolution which is available on the website of United States US Congress cites a report by USCIRF which for three consecutive years has designated India as a country of particular concern over human rights violations. Was demanded.
Citing the USCIRF Annual Report 2022 the resolution said that in 2021 the Government of India has accelerated the process of promotion & implementation of its policies including the promotion of the Hindu nationalist agenda. & these regressive policies are having a severe impact on Muslims Sikhs Christians Dalits & other religious minorities.
According to the resolution the report further states that government is promoting its ideology of Hindu state at both national & state levels through existing & new laws & fundamental amendments against the country religious minorities.
The resolution further pointed out in report how the use of laws at the official level was creating an atmosphere of fear in the country in order to silence all voices against the government. The resolution further states that the report cites a number of instances in which inter faith marriages especially those of Hindu girls marrying Muslim boys & converting Hindus to Christianity or Islam have-been criminalized. The perpetrators were subjected to severe state sponsored repression and torture.
The report also highlights the serious dangers posed by the Citizenship Amendment Act & the National Registry of Citizens Act for Indian Muslims which could lead to millions of stateless or indefinite detentions. Including

The USCIRF report further states that mass protests by farmers against farm laws enacted in September 2020 continued until 2021. Despite the wide & varied nature of the protests efforts were made including by government officials to defame the protesters especially the Sikh protesters & to brand them as terrorists & religious separatists.
