Who is the new Governor Baligh-ur-Rehman who was finally sworn in after constitutional & political crisis in Punjab?
On May 30 President of Pakistan Arif Alvi approved the appointment of PML N leader Mr Governor Baligh-ur-Rehman as Governor of Punjab after which he too oath of office last evening.
However before appointment of Governor Mr Baligh-ur-Rehman as Province Governor of Punjab by President there was a significant political tussle in this post. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf PTI had removed Chaudhry Sarwar from post of governor & appointed Omar Sarfraz Cheema as new governor before voting on no confidence motion against former PM Imran Khan.
Me Umar Sarfraz Cheema had refused to take oath as CM of Punjab from Hamza Shahbaz & thus a new political crisis had arisen in Punjab.
On 9 May federal government removed Omar Sarfraz Cheema from post of governor but President of Pakistan rejected the proposal to remove him. Later Umar Sarfraz Cheema had also requested court to quash notification of his dismissal.

Now that Governor Mr Baligh-ur-Rehman has been sworn in as the Governor of Punjab idea is being expressed at political level that current turmoil in politics can be stopped some how.
Governor Baligh-ur-Rehman's Family Background
Family of new Governor of Punjab migrated from India in 1726 & settled in Bahawalpur a small settlement on banks of river Sutlej in Jhuk Jhawand. This settlement was later changed to Bahawalpur city in Punjab.
Seth Mr Abdul Rehman eldest son of Molvi Ghulam Rasool eldest son of this family was a prominent figure in Bahawalpur province in 1969 and had to serve his sentence in Sibi Jail. Governor Baligh-ur-Rehman's family political journey begins with him.
After the failure of Bahawalpur province movement Seth Obaid-ur-Rehman sided with Seraiki province but in Pakistan 1st general election, the 1970 election he could not succeed on the platform of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam. In the local politics of Bahawalpur however his name remained whether it was the era of Ayub Khan or martial law of Former President General Zia-ul-Haq.
Seth Obaid-ur-Rehman & New Governor Baligh-ur-Rehman grandfather Dr. Jameel-ur-Rehman were cousins in relationship.
Muhammad Jameel-ur-Rehman eldest son Muhammad Aqeel-ur-Rehman was father of Baligh-ur-Rehman who died in 2011.
When and how did New Governor Baligh-ur-Rehman politics begin?
New Governor Baligh-ur-Rehman father Muhammad Aqeel-ur-Rehman politics began in 90's. He remained MNA in the national seat of Hasilpur Bahawalpur district & he joined Pakistan Muslim League PML-N.
After Muhammad Aqeel-ur-Rehman his son Baligh-ur-Rehman stepped into practical politics and contested 1st election from the urban constituency of Bahawalpur in 2008.
At the time constituency was NA-185. He was also elected MNA from same constituency in the 2013 elections. When Shahid Khaqan Abbasi became the Prime Minister Baligh-ur-Rehman was Federal Minister of Pakistan in his cabinet.
In the 2018 elections Governor Baligh-ur-Rehman lost from NA-170 constituency to PTI Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf candidate Muhammad Farooq Azam Malik by a margin of nearly 10,000 votes.
In different political periods Governor Baligh-ur-Rehman family did not join any other party except pakistan Muslim League PML-N. That is why Baligh-ur-Rehman is considered close to Sharif family.
According to Muhammad Altaf-ur-Rehman who is new governor Baligh-ur-Rehman uncle, Baligh-ur-Rehman is a close associate of Nawaz Sharif. Recently when PML-N held a meeting in Bahawalpur, Hamza Shahbaz had said that Baligh-ur-Rehman from Bahawalpur has-been nominated as Governor of Punjab on orders of Mian Nawaz Sharif.

Governor Baligh-ur-Rehman personality & as a politician
Governor Baligh-ur-Rehman early education is at Sadiq Public School. He later moved US United States to study engineering. Before politics he was involved in business.
They are business people as well as middle class landowners. He has a house in Bahawalpur & also in Islamabad but spends most of his time in Bahawalpur.
