A crockery fish has-been caught from coastal district of Gwadar in Balochistan which sold for more than Rs. 13.4 million.

Blochistan: Sudhir Baloch a research associate at WWF an international animal protection organization said Croaker fish was caught in the Jwani area.

He said that meat of Croaker fish was sold at Rs. 280,000 per kg.


Bahram Baloch a senior journalist from Gwadar said it was by far the best selling Croaker fish.

A few days ago a team of fishermen caught 18 Croaker fish but it sold for a total of Rs 800,000.


Why does a single Croaker fish cost more than 18 fish?


Bahram Baloch said Croaker fish was caught on Thursday in Jwani area a fishing village near the Iranian border.


When contacted on phone Sudhir Baloch confirmed  catch of the 48 kg Croaker fish & said that it was sold for more than Rs 13.4 million.


Earlier a fisherman named Sajid Omar & his accomplices had caught 18 Croaker fish from Gunz area of ​​Gwadar but due to weight loss Croaker fish was sold for a total of Rs. 800,000.


Sudhir Baloch said that  price of Croaker fish depends on their air bladder in which they float due to filling of air.


Bigger Croaker fish and the heavier the fish the bigger the bladder. Second, the size of the bladder of male Croaker fish is larger so male crocker is more expensive than female Croaker Fish.


He said that  new Croaker fish caught from Jivani weighed more than 48 kg which made it sold at a higher price.


Why is Croaker fish so valuable?


According to experts, Croaker fish is called crocodile because of its croaking sound which it releases its substance to give voice or to communicate with other mates. In Urdu his name is Sawa.


In addition to being used in cosmetics & soups its bladder is used to cleanse alcohol
