Rafiq Tarar : When the former president did not respond to the salute of General Pervaiz Musharraf
Former Pakistani President Muhammad Rafiq Tarar has died in provincial capital Lahore on Monday at the age of 92. He was President of Pakistan from 1998 to 2001 during the rule of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
Former President Rafiq Tarar'l grandson and PML N spokesperson Maryam Aurangzeb has confirmed his death calling it a great loss to the country. According to Radio Pakistan he was ill for a long time.

It will be about 11:30 a.m. when President Rafiq Tarar &Chief Executive General Pervaiz Musharraf come down from the fourth floor of the Presidency together and walk side by side with the main corridor of the ground floor but reach the porch very quietly.
The President car was parked in front which did not have national flag contrary to tradition. The driver opened the door & President Rafiq Tarar stepped forward.
General Musharraf took a deep breath of satisfaction and saluted the departed person by pressing the General stick in his armpit to which he did not get any reply. As the car sped forward General Musharraf turned back to the elevator.
It was the scene of departure of President elect Rafiq Tarar from the Presidency.
